15 Simple and Proven Steps to a Super Productive Day
How to Have a Productive Day? This is a question I used to ask myself A LOT when I was a lazy person with no productivity at all. There was barely a single day in the month when I used to get up and literally do something productive.
I was the lazy person and also I was definitely not a morning person. As a matter of fact, I still am not a morning person. I still get up every day and force myself to get out of my comfy quilt. Who would want to do that anyway?
It was still so much easier back in the days when I had to go to school. So there was no point in doing all the lazy drama every single day (yet I used to do it, anyway).
Now, when I’m a stay-at-home mom, it is so much more difficult to pull off that quilt and get out of the warm and cozy bed, when your little one is still sleeping and having the time of their life. Haha, I totally get you, gurl.
Getting out of the bed is one story, and making the day productive is another part of the story, which is even more difficult. Lol.
But there are a few ways in which you can turn any day into a creative and productive day. Trust me, if I can do it, ANYONE in the world can definitely do it too.
STEPS TO HAVE THE MOST PRODUCTIVE DAY, EVERY DAY!
Here is my take on how to have a productive and dynamic day. And one more thing I want you guys to know before we get started, you can make any day productive, no matter, if it’s 5, in the morning or 12 in the noon. And if you’re reading it later in the evening, still try to do your best to make the most of your remaining day.
“Focus on being productive instead of busy.”
~ Tim Ferriss
With all that being said, let’s get straight into my steps!
1. WAKE UP WITH THE SUN
Okay, if not with the sun then at least one hour prior to your work time. Getting up early can shape your entire day!
Everyone says it, but to practically implement it, you have to work a little before the day even starts. So the night before, do your night routine and get straight into the bed, turn off all the lights and especially the light of your phone. Turn your phone on silent or Do Not Disturb mode, so nobody disturbs you afterward. Put your alarms on and you are good to go!
The first step is not crucial, but trust me it makes a HUGE difference.
2. GET OUT OF BED
Take off that blanket and get out! Don’t check your phone for two hours. I know some days when you are feeling super lazy, so you sit there and check your Instagram and YouTube for some inspiration. Well, I guess this quote will be enough motivation for you!
“Amateurs sit and wait for inspiration, the rest of us just get up and go to work.”
~ Stephen King
So get up and move!
3. HYDRATE YOURSELF
Drink a huge glass of water. Adding a few slices of lemon or cucumber will make it even better and more refreshing for your skin and body. Our body feels dehydrated in the morning, making us sluggish and inactive. Drinking water early in the morning is going to make you feel hydrated and keep you active throughout the day.
Bonus: No more acne.
4. MAKE YOUR BED
Chances are you’re still drowsy and would love to cuddle with the pillow and go back to sleep, ruining your entire day. Better make your bed right away, so you don’t have any chance to do that.
Don’t go to the washroom before making your bed. DON’T! I have tried it and I’ve failed, badly. So don’t even try.
“If you want to change the world, start off by making your bed.”
~ William H.McRaven
5. FRESHEN UP
Go to the washroom, brush your teeth, floss, wash your face and apply your day cream or do your skin-care routine. You’ll feel fresh, instantly.
6. EAT REAL BREAKFAST
Make yourself a heavy breakfast. It totally depends on you. I have various ideas of breakfast and go ahead for the one I’m in the mood of, that day. You can make yourself a batch of fluffy pancakes, an omelet or a tall glass of smoothie will work really well too.
Keep a list of go-to breakfast recipes with you for busy mornings. Here is a perfect cookbook for busy persons.
7. DO THE DISHES
Wash the pots right away. After having the breakfast, don’t put the dirty dishes in the sink, either put them in the dishwasher or wash them right away.
This is the second thing that is going to make you feel productive today (first is that you made your bed earlier, yaaayyy!). And if you feel it, you’ll do it!
8. CLEAN UP SPACE
Tidy up your room and/or your workspace. Cleaning up your room is going to make you feel so good about yourself whenever you’ll go in there. So yeah, better do it.
Cleaning the workspace is very important because a) you’re going to feel good. b) you’ll feel less clutter and more dedicated towards your work, hence more productivity. c) why not?
9. DO SOME STRETCHES
Stretching your body in the morning is going to make you fresh and active right away and your productivity throughout the day will be doubled.
If you exercise regularly, that’s a huge plus but if you don’t, make a habit of doing a few stretches every day. Your body deserves it.
You can also dedicate a few minutes to meditation if you prefer.
10. DO LAUNDRY
Throw a load of laundry in. Try making a habit of doing one load of laundry every day instead of wasting your entire day on laundry, you’ll spare some time from every day for it. Don’t push it. Because if you did, it will pile up and you’ll end up wasting more time on this chore rather than your other ‘more’ important tasks. so better do it right away.
11. GET READY
Go take a shower, change into a beautiful dress, do your hair. Keep everything light and casual unless you’re planning to do something fancy.
Feeling beautiful is going to boost up your mood and will make you feel inspired, artistic and awake (if you’ve not felt that yet).
12. MAKE A TO-DO LIST
I swear by this step. Whenever I make a to-do list, I’m 99% more likely to do the designated chores, then I was if I didn’t make one.
Whether you’re a digital freak or you like to write in your journal. Make a checklist of thing you want to do that day. I like to do in on my phone by writing everything and then prioritizing my tasks, starting from the most important and the easiest to the least important, the toughest and the most time-consuming one.
You have to learn how to manage your time in order to be productive.
“Until we can manage time, we can manage nothing else.”
~ Peter Drucker
Here’s my best tip of all time, to get anything done. Set a timer on your phone, and start doing the thing. Set a goal that by the time the timer is done, you should be done doing the thing too.
Let’s say you want to clean up a room. Depending on the level of the mess, put the timer from 20 minutes to 40 minutes. Clean up, put clothes away, dust the room, make the bed, declutter, vacuum the room, and wipe the mirrors and the surfaces and you’re almost done!
13. DON’T PROCRASTINATE
Start working right away and don’t distract yourself.
Whether you want to make dinner, do laundry, clean up the mess, write a blog post, work from home, attend a meeting or even declutter your wardrobe. Do it right away. Don’t delay or postpone your actions.
14. DON’T STOP
Keep doing whatever you’ve written in the to-do list. Keep checking the list. Tick the mark and honestly, you’ll feel so good.
Limit distractions, keep your Wi-Fi turned off, put the calls on hold. Do whatever it takes you to complete the entire list. And give yourself a treat at the end of the day.
15. DON’T OVERWHELM YOURSELF
Keep everything light, cool and enjoyable. Set the mood for everything, do not overthink and don’t waste your time. You can put on some music and dance while you do your daily chores or listen to a motivational podcast.
After completing the list, you can entertain yourself by reading a book or having a long hot bath or even a big and bold cinnamon roll. Your choice!
And there you have it! A PERFECTLY PRODUCTIVE DAY!
Remember that it’s okay to have a day or two, when you’re feeling lazy and you sleep till 1 pm, still wanting to sleep more, ordering pizza, watching movies. But it’s not okay to make it a routine, not doing and feeling productive and not doing anything right.
But try to limit the “off days” to one to two times a week and not more than that.
Follow these steps and I’m sure you’ll have a great day. Keep yourself motivated with a few quotes on your vision board or even Pinterest board! And you’ll do it easily!

Best of luck!
