Daily 30-Minute Quick Cleaning Routine + Free Printable
I promise you’re not the only one who finds cleaning to be less than thrilling. But if you have a daily cleaning routine, I’m sure you can clean up without that frown on your face.
Am I the only one who is busy all the time? Like honestly, I don’t even have to time unload the dishwasher. Although I’m working on my time management skills, all the extra time I manage to get goes to my blogging, so yeah I literally don’t have time for anything else, except my baby of course.
I don’t think I’m the only one here, right? I know working housewives and moms go through this a lot. Managing work, family, home, kids, friends, and fun is tough. Isn’t it? But at the same time we enjoy it, don’t we? Yeah, we do and we absolutely love our lives.
All we need to do is manage our time efficiently and effectively and find out what works the best for us.
It takes me around 3 hours to clean my entire place. Although I live in a small apartment with only one baby, still, in a dry and sandy region like Saudi Arabia it gets so messy and the dirt is literally everywhere, the floor, side tables, lack and even mirrors. So I have to clean almost every single day.
Before the baby that was not a big deal but after the baby and now that I’ve started blogging, it means almost impossible. So I came up with an idea of having a routine to clean up.
Now I have a speed-cleaning routine, which I follow when guests are about to come or I’m in a rush and in addition to that, I have got a routine for every day of the week. I’ll update you guys about it really soon.
So what I do to follow this routine is that I set up a timer for 30 minutes (at any time of the day, especially when Baby Tee is sleeping) and I start cleaning up and I multitask. I try to be as quick and productive as possible and I cut out all the distractions.
If one doesn’t have a habit of cleaning every day, it takes a lot more time. So it might take a little longer the first time you go through this list. But things will move with the flow and after several days you’ll find
a). Your house looks a lot cleaner now.
b). Even if you skip a day, it doesn’t make A LOT of difference.
c). it doesn’t take more than 20 to 30 minutes.
So today I’m going to tell you what my quick clean up routine looks like. At the end of the post, there is a free printable of this checklist, you can check it out as well for your planner or you can just go ahead and stick it on your fridge or vision board to look at, every day.
• ONE LOAD OF LAUNDRY.
This is usually my first step as it takes little to no time to load it and then after cleaning up the whole house I go ahead and unload it, let the clothes dry and put away and I’m all done!
I try to do one load of laundry every other day. It keeps things easier and less time-consuming for me.
It’s not gonna take more than 2 minutes.
• FOLD ANY PREVIOUS LAUNDRY AND PUT AWAY.
As I told you earlier, I usually do laundry every other day, which means my clothes are always drying up on the rack because of a). I don’t have a cupboard dry washing machine and b). I am so lazy to fold them right after they dry, so yeah…
So I have to fold the previous load of dried and clean clothes before putting on more clothes to dry. it takes me 2 to 3 minutes.
• PICK UP RANDOM CLUTTER AND ORGANIZE EVERYTHING.
I have no idea why my apartment is ALWAYS messy. We have cushions, clothes, toys, rattles, plates, sheets, chargers and a ton of extra stuff laying around the couch and floor, almost all the time. So whenever I have to clean up. First of all, I go ahead and pick up that random clutter which makes the room look even messier. It takes around 4 minutes.
• MAKE BEDS AND FLUFF UP THE CUSHIONS.
Afterward, I make the bed and fluff up the cushions and pillows. It honestly makes A HUGE DIFFERENCE. If your bed and cushions are organized, everything else looks organized too.
On my lazy days (once a week), all I do is pick up the clutter and make the bed and nobody can tell if I have cleaned up the entire space or not.
Try to make a habit of making the bed right after waking up. If you want to boost your productivity by 100%, check out this post.
• VACUUM THE FLOORS.
Kids create a lot of mess. Moms gotta vacuum the floor at least twice a day, if not more. Do you agree?
Well, my kid is still pretty young but I still have to vacuum at least once a day. The dirt here in Saudi Arabia blows my mind. >_<
Vacuum the room, living room, dining area, kitchen and any other room which needs attention. It takes me 8-10 minutes.
• ARRANGE THE ENTRYWAY.
Believe it or not, first impressions are everything. Whenever you enter a home, the first thing you see is the entryway so that should be clean and organized.
Clean & Organized entryway = Clean & Organized Mind
It takes less than 3 minutes, honestly.
• ORGANIZE THE MAIN ROOMS.
Since my apartment is small, with just one room, so it’s very easy for me to clean up. If you have more, you can divide one or two rooms per day.
I’ll write a detailed post about dividing and managing your house chores. Stick around!
Dust the surfaces and points of contact, wipe the electronics, mirrors, and screens, maybe mop the floor too, put away any clutter and you are good to go! It takes me 5-7 minutes to dust one room.
• LOAD OR EMPTY THE DISHWASHER.
Everyone keeps pushing away this chore. But it is going to make your kitchen look so much clean and fresh. One tip is to put your dirty dishes in the dishwasher right away, instead of pushing it to some later time.
I don’t have a dishwasher, so I wash my dishes by hand. What works for me is that I clean the dishes as I use them. Used a bowl? Wash it before leaving the kitchen. This technique works for me really well. Because I know if I get lazy, there will be a clutter of dishes, one over another and that, my friend, is a pretty long and not-so-appealing job.
• CLEAN AND WIPE KITCHEN COUNTER AND SINK.
After you are done with the dishes, don’t take off your gloves until you wipe and clean the counter, kitchen island, sink, and oven or microwave, if needed. You’ll thank yourself later. It will not take more than 5 minutes.
• WIPE SURFACES
After you’re done with the kitchen chores, go ahead and clean up those random places, like the coffee table, side table, entryway decor, frames, LCD rack or anything else that needs a wipe. It’s going to take 4 minutes only.
• WIPE MIRRORS, IF NEEDED
Just by simply wiping the mirrors clean, your house is going to look 50% cleaner. If mirrors are clean, everything else looks clean too. So it’s a must! Do not forget wiping your mirrors if you want that clean vibe! It won’t take more than a minute for each mirror.
• MOP THE FLOOR.
Yaayyy!! You made it to the last chore of the day. Congratulations!
Take that mop, dip it in something like disinfectant and something which smells nice and mop those floors. After mopping you’ll feel like you have accomplished something GREAT! And you have. You just cleaned your entire freaking house. If not entire house, then a major part of it.
• MAKE THAT HOUSE SMELL GOOD
Light a few candles or add a few slices of lemon, lime or orange into a saucepan along with a couple of sticks of cinnamon and a tablespoon or two of vanilla extract. let it simmer for a few minutes (keep an eye on it). Your house will smell like a bakery. Trust me.
• REWARD YOURSELF.
You did a great job, my friend! I’m so proud of you! You definitely deserve a bar of chocolate or a few macaroons.
Take a bath, turn on your favorite TV show or read a book while you eat that yummy treat!
